Governor Imran Ismail and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah have agreed to improve the working relationship between Sindh and Centre in the larger public interest. The consensus was evolved during a meeting between the two leaders at the Governor House in Karachi on Saturday. Sindh ministers Saeed Ghani, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, and Murtaza Wahab accompanied the chief minister while the governor was flanked by provincial opposition leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s parliamentary leader Haleem Adil Sheikh at the meeting. According to a Governor House spokesperson, the strategy to improve a better working relationship between the two governments among other matters of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting. The need to further enhance bilateral contacts between the two governments was also stressed upon during the meeting, he added. The ruling parties in Sindh and Centre also agreed to improve the current confrontational environment in the Sindh Assembly. The two parties are at loggerheads ever since long; however, the situation intensified after Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s criticism of the Imran Khan-led government this week. Members of treasury and opposition benches, both in the National Assembly and the provincial assembly, have misbehaved and used derogatory language at each other on multiple occasions after the premier referred to the PPP chairman as ‘Sahiba’ during a rally in the erstwhile FATA on Wednesday.
